We launched our first Women in Leadership programme for students in 2018. Over the course of the programme, 30 of our female students – with an interest in leadership - progressed through a range of events and activities to accelerate that interest, ambition and potential.
The feedback from student participants, and our programme supporters, surpassed all of our expectations! Since completing the programme, we have seen positive outcomes in terms of students’ personal development, their career planning and focus. The programme was shortlisted for an ‘AGCAS Awards for Excellence’, and has been endorsed by senior female leaders across a range of sectors in the region.
For 2019, we are looking to expand this further, increasing the numbers of students on the programme significantly. We will continue to reach out to a broad cross section of student academic backgrounds and, by doing so, bring together a diverse cohort of student participants.
Aims of the programme
Whilst we have ambitious plans to grow the numbers of students taking part in the programme in 2019, the aims remain the same:
- To inspire our students and raise aspirations
- To develop and apply knowledge of leadership theory
- To build confidence and self-belief
- To make connections
- To learn from others through mentoring and work shadowing
The programme launches in semester two of the academic year 2018-19 and will continue in to semester one of 2019-20.

- Aimed at 2nd year undergraduate students
