As an institution we are responsible for:
- Ensuring the welfare of vulnerable groups
- Providing an environment and practices which are safe and protect individuals from harm
- Taking prompt and appropriate action in responding to suspicions or allegations of abuse
- Working collaboratively with other agencies, where appropriate
Vulnerable groups include:
- Children – any person under the age of 18
- Vulnerable adults – any person over the age of 18 who:
- Has needs for care and support; and
- Is experiencing, or is at risk of
- As a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or experience of abuse and neglect.
Types of abuse include: physical abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, psychological / emotional abuse, financial abuse, modern slavery, discriminatory abuse, organisational abuse, neglect, and self-neglect.
