Safeguarding

This form is for reporting any safeguarding concerns that have been raised regarding a child or vulnerable adult. Safeguarding is protecting vulnerable groups from harm.

As an institution we are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the welfare of vulnerable groups
  • Providing an environment and practices which are safe and protect individuals from harm
  • Taking prompt and appropriate action in responding to suspicions or allegations of abuse
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies, where appropriate

Vulnerable groups include:

  • Children – any person under the age of 18
  • Vulnerable adults – any person over the age of 18 who:
    • Has needs for care and support; and
    • Is experiencing, or is at risk of
    • As a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or experience of abuse and neglect.

Types of abuse include: physical abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse, psychological / emotional abuse, financial abuse, modern slavery, discriminatory abuse, organisational abuse, neglect, and self-neglect.

This form is for use by Designated Safeguarding Officers to record safeguarding concerns raised in Schools and Professional Services. Submissions will be reviewed by the Nominated Safeguarding Officers. All information remains strictly confidential and reporting anonymous.
