Tuesday 1 December is #GivingTuesday– a global day of giving! If you feel inspired to give your time, and give something back, take a look at this week’s volunteering highlights:
One-off Opps
- Friday 27th Nov, 1.15 – 3.45pm, OPAL elderly care need volunteers for their sharing stories and poetry session!
- Friday 27th Nov, 11-1pm - help run St. George’s Crypt coffee stallat The Light’s Xmas Activity
- Saturday 28th Nov, Hope Pastures Bag Pack ASDA Morley– horse and donkey sanctuary Hope Pastures are doing a bag pack to raise much needed funds for their charity, can you help??
- Tuesday 1st Dec, 11-2pm - #GivingTuesdayis a global day of giving and we need help running micro volunteering stalls outside the Library at City Campus.
- Wednesday 2nd Dec, 10am-1.30pm, Walk with me gardening project- Volunteers needed to help out with an older peoples gardening group. There are a few jobs that are too strenuous for group members to carry out including: Turning the compost heaps, Cleaning the pond, Cutting back shrubs, Cutting back and digging out brambles, Weeding between paving stones.
- Thursday 3rd Dec, 7pm - help serve refreshments for St. George’s Crypt at the Phoenix Band concert at the Great Hall Headingley Campus
Ongoing Opps
- Elliott Hudson College are setting up a mentoring scheme between their college students and university students, and are looking for Volunteer Mentors to start in January 2016. The programme will assist with enabling college students to gain the support they require in order to make well informed decisions regarding their future. Student volunteers will meet with their mentee on 3 separate occasions and lead structured sessions focusing on three key areas.
- The Temple Newsam Learning Partnership Trust aims to support the most vulnerable children, young people and families within the local community to improve life chances. They are looking for the following: Events and Projects Support Worker; Children and Families Support Worker; Fundraising Support Worker; Membership and Communications Support Worker; Under 5s and Family Support Worker. - Volunteer at OPAL- on a 1-2-1 basis with older people to help them access the digital world. You could be helping on anything from switching on a computer to helping people learn about photoshop. Volunteers needed a couple of hours a week, between 10am and 4pm Monday-Friday.
- Leeds City College Students' Union are looking for media support! They have the following volunteer roles: Web designer, Video editor. Volunteers should have good technology and web skills, and be creative with a keen eye for detail.
