Our Do Good Mash Up event is an opportunity for students to come and speak with over 30 charities, organisations and social enterprises that provide volunteering opportunities through us here in the Student’s Union Volunteering Team.
Some that will be in attendance include;
- International Volunteering (LBU)- Find out about opportunities ti volunteer abroad!
- St Giles Trust- Come and meet a buddy dog who will be helping to promote the opportunities working with offenders & ex-offenders. Perfect opportunity for getting experience working in prisons and get your prison clearance!
- Hope Pastures- Come and find out about a wonderful donkey & pony sanctuary located just up the road in Far Headingley!
- Syrian Community in Leeds- This wonderful group will be talking to you about opportunities teaching English and welcoming Syrian refugees in Leeds. They will also be bringing some home-made Syrian dishes for you to try!
- St Gemma’s Hospice- Come and have a chat whilst having a look through their vintage clothing sale!
Food will be available also on a Pay as You Feel (PaYF) basis which will be provided by The Real Junk Food Project (All Hallows Café- Hyde Park) which aims to tackle food waste in the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to talk face to face with the people behind the opportunity and learn more about different volunteering projects and how to get involved with their local community on a schedule that best suits their availability!
