What is Halal Spot?
Halal Spot is an app which helps Millennial Muslims to discover great Halal food around them. It helps them find Halal restaurants, takeaways and cafes that have been curated by us and the community i.e. Halal Spot users. It will give them/you a unique social and gamified experience. The app is in constant development as we work on ways to make the app and the experience better.
The blog?
The blog is an opportunity to get your writing published, read and shared by like-minded people. We want the blog to be written by and for Millennials who are passionate about writing and even more about food. We'd love to work with people from all backgrounds so you don't have to be Muslim to write for us; you just have to write about places where Halal food is served.
We'd like the posts to be 'snackable' so it doesn't have to be any more than 300-350 words long with images. We want the writing style to be casual and conversational; think Unilad Grub, Buzzfeed Food or Metro Food. We'd like the content to be relevant, funny, slightly irreverent, cool, informative, intelligent and quick and easy to read.
We want it to cover a range topics (we're open to hearing your opinions about this too) such as restaurant reviews, new restaurant openings, cool and trendy places to eat, 'listicles' like top 10 Indian restaurants in Leeds. We want the articles to be well researched if you're writing about certain topics such as best foods to eat when breaking fast during Ramadan or the benefits of super foods or a high protein diet for example.
We will include blog posts about restaurants that serve partially or fully Halal menus.
What is Halal?
Halal is an Arabic term which means lawful or permitted. Halal is a universal terms that applies to all facets of a Muslim’s way of life and extends to food. Halal food is food that Muslims are allowed to eat. Halal Spot displays restaurants on its app that to our best knowledge serve Halal meats such as chicken, lamb, beef, turkey, mutton and duck.
