On Thursday 2 March the Student Wellbeing team will lead on a program of activities in the Gateway in the Leslie Silver Building to promote positive mental health on campus.
The theme this year is ‘active mental health.’
We can ‘be active’ in lots of ways and the event is about encouraging conversation getting involved and finding out what opportunities and supports are available
Drop by the Gateway to:
- Spend some time with therapy dogs from Canine Concern
- Get a free taster massage to boost your wellbeing
- Attend one of two mindfulness classes during the day
- Peddle for a smoothie our smoothie bike
- Speak to Sports and Active Lifestyles and find out about opportunities at Leeds Beckett
- Find out about our Student Union student led peer support groups
- Speak to the Student Union Volunteering team about getting active with volunteering
- Pick up information on the range of supports available for your mental health and wellbeing
- Speak to a range of services who will be around during the day

University Mental Health and Wellbeing Day is an annual event aiming to focus efforts that promote the mental health of people who live and work in higher education. The initiative was started by University Mental Health Advisors Network (UMHAN), a national UK charity with members in practical roles dedicated to providing support to students experiencing mental health difficulties, it has been marked by higher education institutions, including Leeds Beckett University, in various ways over the last few years.
