ASYLUM IN ART
A photo-visualisation of life inside and beyond UK Immigration Removal Centres
This project is a collaboration between Maria De Angelis, Senior Lecturer in Criminology in the School of Social Sciences, photographer Jeremy Abrahams, Leeds City of Sanctuary, Leeds Refugee Education Training Advice Service and women who have experienced immigration detention. We will be creating visual representations of these women’s experiences and acts of resistance.
We are seeking Performing Arts students to be featured in the images. You would need to be available between May 9th and May 17th for the occasional photoshoot which will last for one to two hours and be willing to travel to different locations in Leeds (travel expenses will be paid). You would be asked to sign a model release giving permission for the image to be used in the public domain.
We will need representatives of all sectors of the community, but particularly women of BAME origin. To express your interest please tell Maria about yourself, attach a photo and describe your availability.
