Leeds Beckett University students have free access to Kooth Student (www.student.kooth.com), which is an online mental health and emotional wellbeing community where you can access counselling from BACP-accredited counsellors and chat with the qualified online wellbeing team. You can also get peer-to-peer support from other students, but you’ll never know who it is because everything at Kooth Student is completely anonymous.
Anything that is contributed to the website outside of the counselling sessions, for example if you were to participate in a discussion board or write a magazine article for us, is all moderated by the online team - meaning there is a 0% chance of any trolling or bullying! It’s a safe space, free from judgement, where you can go for any kind of support. You might just want to vent to somebody, or you might be experiencing something that is severely impacting your mental health. The Kooth Student team reflects all communities and walks of life, so no matter what issue you go to them with there is somebody at Kooth Student who can and will help.
Leeds Beckett University if only 1 of 3 Universities in the UK that have access to Kooth Student so please do take advantage of it.
There will be two virtual sessions with Olivia from Kooth Student on Zoom, where she will go through how the website works in more detail and will be able to answer any questions you have. These sessions are designed to give you more information, so everyone from students, to parents/ carers, to teaching staff are welcome!
