The Careers Exit Check-In is a survey that will help in improving our understanding about the intentions of our students as they transition in to becoming a graduate. The survey provides us with improved opportunities to tailor our graduate careers support offer and communications during the lead up to the Graduate Outcomes Survey. We hope that through this we will be able to make a positive difference to Graduate Outcomes Survey response rates and results for your course.

What is the Careers Exit Check-In?

  • An online survey for all full time, level 6 students
  • 4 questions - 2 mins to complete (max)
  • Online (via MyHub) - requires students to login using their regular University details

Promoting the survey

We know that school led promotion is one of the most powerful engagement methods for surveys. As such your support in encouraging students to complete the survey is crucial. We have provided links to some  promotional material below along with some suggestions on how you might wish to support with promoting the survey.

  • Wherever possible we would encourage you to build time in your lectures or seminars/tutorials for students to complete the survey.
  • Please take the opportunity to highlight the survey in Academic Advisor meetings.
  • Add announcements about the survey to MyBeckett.
  • Contact students on your course via email to remind them to complete the survey.

If you would like any support in promoting the survey or wish to arrange for a member of the Graduate Progression Team to come along to a lecture or seminar please do get in touch through completing the following form or via email on gradcareers@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

How will we contact students about the survey?

  • We will email all full time, level 6 students during w/c 21st March asking them to complete the survey. Those who haven't completed the survey will receive 2 reminders.
  • We will send a text message to students to notify them about the survey.
  • Messages will also be displayed on campus on plasma screens and on screen savers.

Why is this survey important for your course?

1. It will allow us to differentiate our communications with graduates from your course as they move beyond Beckett. Keeping graduates engaged in our communications will increase the likelihood of them tuning in to messages about the Graduate Outcomes Survey (which they receive 15 months after they complete their studies.)

2. It will allow us to better understand WHERE our graduates are going once they leave us at a much earlier point. It will help to create a clearer picture of the employers who hire graduates from your course and the geographical locations that they are choosing to live in.

3. It will allow us to better understand WHAT type of careers support graduates from your course may need moving forwards. Information from the survey will allow us to tailor our offer so that it is more aligned with individual circumstances.
